MAGISTER NOVUS
Magister Novus is the new piece of art by Ilumnia developer Jef Nuyts. Building on the already revolutionary LEMS technology with its incredibly natural linear sound, Novus adds functions and possibilities that are unseen before in the world of high end passive loudspeakers.
Adaptive Driver Control allows you to directly adjust the LEMS driver settings to your preferences from the comfort of your listening chair.
LEMS – A new paradigm
The LEMS driver is not an evolution of the electrodynamic driver. It can be called a revolution.
It has 99,7% linear behavior and has no compression at all which gives it a perfect dynamic response. Mechanical resistance of the cone is nullified so there is no absorption of music signal, not even the tiniest one. Therefore the smallest detail can be heard.
The speed and linearity of this driver results in high resolving power of complex music. The ultra low levels of distortion will guarantee hours of listening pleasure without any listening fatigue. We can easily say this driver comes close to perfection.

Uncompromised Music Signal
The Magister has been designed as a whole. We did not buy individual components and put them together. Everything was designed to match with each other in order to reach optimal synergy between components. Therefore our filter could be reduced to a minimum and the music signal is kept uncompromised.Adaptive Driver Control
Ilumnia Magister Novus brings its LEMS driver to the next level by introducing a dynamic suspension control. This means that the position of the cone is fed back to the power supply, allowing the driver to be adjusted to different modes, ranging from a fully linear mode to a soft clipped power mode. We called this Adaptive Driver Control (ADC). ADC allows the listener to control the drivers from the listening position with the aid of the new Ilumnia ADC app. This function is unseen and unleveled in today’s market of passive loudspeakers.
High-end Current Supply
High-end rating constant current supply is crucial for the electro-magnetic suspension.
As a surplus it is possible to change the suspension stiffness to the desired value, depending on taste. This allows you to get a higher stiffness with more definition and a tighter low end, or a lower stiffness which makes the speaker sound softer with a more round low end.
Customization
Possibility to adjust mid-high (midbass driver) and high (tweeter) energy according to room acoustics. Integrated EPDM damping rings for a soft stop of the cone at the end of its maximum excursion.
To use max. potential of the LEMS driver, crossover frequency is raised from 5.5Khz (MKI version) to 9.5Khz. Which results in more perceptional energy at higher octaves yet without being harsh.
